Nov. 17, 2012 at the Mine

Could our meeting get any better with Steve Boles as Toastmaster?  Well actually YES!!

John Sheppard, our lost sheep,  returned to the fold, Hal is now a member of the fold and Sharon joined the fold!!!  That and shy little Stevie at the helm, OMG!

Phyllis, our President, opened the meeting and introduced Jerry with an intellectually stimulating Thought of the Day. "If you don't say anything, you won't be called on to repeat it." by Calvin Coolidge.

John told us a joke about Lester, who lives in the mountains.

I served as Grammarian with the word sardonic. Jerry's joke may have fit that category!

Serena was our ah bell/ballot counter and Sonny rounded out the group by being our timer.

Hal, Sharon and our guest, Dana were the Table Topic recipients as they told us about the new books they published.  As Table Topics Master, I had everyone write a short quote and put it in a cup before I told the group what would transpire. Dana's "Life is Like a Box of Chocolates" won .

Matthew gave a motivational reading about experiencing victory, the winner.
Shyam's speech involved a great story about the day he walked with lions. It was a really long walk as he exceeded his time.
Both speakers were well prepared and really hit an emotional cord with the audience.

Did I mention that Steve, as Toastmaster, teased and taunted Sonny all morning as he loves to speak and was not being timed today.  The meeting lasted 3 days!

Back at the helm, Phyllis served as the General Evaluator, introducing Phyllis and Jerry as evaluators today.

Best speaker - Matthew
Best Evaluator - Cynthia
Ah Stick - Quite frankly, I do not recall but I think it may have been Sonny, or Jerry , or, I have no idea!  I do recall Jerry making an audible sound, perhaps it was he??

Here's a quote I'd like to share!

  • Charles Spurgeon
Before you go out into the world, wash your face in the clear crystal of praise. Bury each yesterday in the fine linen and spices of thankfulness.

Have a Blessed Holiday,

Joyce
