The Dirty Dozen at Goldmine - April 7, 2012

Twelve Toastmasters formed a commando squad, headed by Sergeant Serena (TM of Day) with the mission of improving our communication and leadership skills.

Amy Beam briefed us on her Thought of the Day.

Richard Archer (who could be a cross between Lee Marvin and Earnest Borgnine) prepared our spirits for battle by humoring us with his Joke of the Day. I, being a war movie- watching charlatan, introduced the Word of the Day. What ever made me start this theme? Cynthia Randolph, armed with bell in hand, had the task of Ah Bell/Ballot Counter. Richard Archer, who has too much hair to be compared to Telly Savalus, kept time with the latest artillery, Jerry's Smart Phone.

After debriefing us on the history of Easter, Sergeant Serena introduced Major Matthew Charity as the Table Topics Master. He drilled Cynthia about her craziest purchase on credit but she would not withdraw to the woes of using credit cards! With military precision, he then branched out worldwide to ask Amy what book should be required reading over the globe. Amy trained us for combat by suggesting The Secret & The Power.

With some Secret Powers herself, Sergeant Serena Introduced our two speakers. Alex Porter warned us of the cold, brutal life of the inchworm Coming Soon to a Neighborhood Near You! In an effort to annihilate non-listeners, Kim Jackson gave us her thoughts on active listening in Two Ears - One Tongue. (note to self - Richard does resemble Donald Sutherland).

General Jerry Weikle commanded attention as the Master Evaluator. He called upon First Class Phyllis Kombol (evaluating Kim) and Second Class Sonny Tolbert (evaluating
Alex) to deliver the latest strategies. Thank goodness there was no bloodshed!

Cynthia Randolph commissioned Kim as Best Speaker, Phyllis as Best Evaluator and herself as Best Table Topics. Charge!!!! Amy gathered the shrapnel for the Ah Stick. Special Commendation to Richard on his use of the Smart Phone.

As military secrets do exist, the best kept one of the day was Insook Lee. She was our Military Advisor and flew under the radar for a role. Camouflage becomes you!.
